Case study - Black Country business finds export success
Wolverhampton based Creatives Loop is a business consultancy firm specialising in the film, TV and digital sectors. Achieving most of its business through word of mouth, in 2006 exports accounted for 11% of the company’s turnover. In 2010 Creatives Loop started to work with a DIT international trade adviser, enabling CEO Simon Preston to talk to someone “intelligent and professional that could understand and grasp very quickly what we do and how they could help”.
Preston credits DIT with helping “small companies like ours to go international”. Through DIT’s Market Visit Support service Creatives Loop went on a trade mission to New York, securing deals worth £62,000 over the next few months. With DIT support the company has since set up a new office in Berlin with German partner AHP International, with plans to grow a client base in Germany and beyond. International trade is now worth 98.3% of overall turnover, with the company’s turnover doubling in the first 18 months.
